1. Who we are
LearnStack Academy ("LearnStack", "we", "us") is an online technology mentorship service for children aged 6–17, operated by 7TPI Innovations and Education Pvt. Ltd., a company registered in India, with services offered to families in the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and other regions. For families in the EU/UK, 7TPI Innovations and Education Pvt. Ltd. is the data controller.
Because our students are children, this policy is written for their parents and legal guardians. All accounts are created and controlled by a parent or guardian — children cannot sign up on their own.
2. Information we collect
From parents and guardians
- Name, email address, phone number and country/timezone, provided when you book a discovery call or enrol.
- Billing details processed by our payment providers. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Communications with us (emails, call notes, support messages).
About students (with verifiable parental consent)
- First name, age, and prior experience level, provided by the parent.
- Learning activity inside our learning platform: assignments, exercises, project milestones, mentor feedback and progress notes.
- Session recordings (video, audio and screen share) of live mentorship sessions.
Collected automatically
- Basic technical data on our website and learning platform: device type, browser, approximate region, and pages visited, used for security and to improve the service. We use only essential and analytics cookies; we do not run behavioural advertising cookies, and we never target advertising at children.
3. Session recordings — how they work
Every live session is recorded. This is a deliberate safeguarding and learning feature, not a by-product:
- Recordings are available to the enrolled family through the parent dashboard so parents can review any session at any time.
- Recordings are accessible to the assigned mentor and to LearnStack staff for quality and safeguarding review.
- Recordings are never made public, never used in marketing, and never shared with other families without your explicit written permission.
- Recordings are retained for the duration of enrolment plus 12 months, then deleted, unless you ask us to delete them earlier.
4. How we use information
| Purpose | Examples | Legal basis (EU/UK) |
|---|---|---|
| Delivering the service | Scheduling sessions, matching mentors, tracking milestones, hosting recordings and assignments | Contract |
| Keeping parents informed | Weekly progress notes, dashboard access, scheduling emails | Contract |
| Safeguarding and quality | Reviewing recordings, mentor supervision | Legitimate interest / legal obligation |
| Billing | Processing payments, invoices, refunds | Contract / legal obligation |
| Improving the service | Aggregated, de-identified usage analysis | Legitimate interest |
| Marketing to parents only | Occasional emails about new Stacks or offers — opt out any time | Consent |
We do not use student data for advertising, do not build advertising profiles of children, and do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
5. Children's privacy (COPPA and GDPR-K)
- We collect personal information from children under 13 (US) / under 16 (EU, where applicable) only with verifiable parental consent, obtained during enrolment.
- We collect the minimum data needed to run mentorship sessions — we do not ask children for contact details, addresses or social media handles.
- Mentors may only communicate with students inside scheduled, recorded sessions and the monitored learning platform. Direct private contact between mentors and students outside the platform is prohibited.
- Parents may review their child's information, withdraw consent, and request deletion at any time (see Section 9). Withdrawal of consent ends the child's enrolment.
6. Who we share data with
Only service providers who help us run LearnStack, under contracts that restrict their use of your data:
- Video conferencing and recording infrastructure for live sessions.
- Our learning management platform, which hosts recordings, assignments and curriculum progress.
- Payment processors for billing.
- Email and scheduling tools for parent communications.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of a child. We will notify you of any such disclosure unless legally prevented from doing so.
7. International transfers
Our team operates from India and our service providers may process data in the United States, the EU and India. Where data of EU/UK residents is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Security and retention
We use encryption in transit, access controls limiting student data to assigned mentors and necessary staff, and regular access reviews. Account data is retained while your family is enrolled and for up to 24 months afterwards for legal and accounting purposes, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Recordings follow the shorter schedule in Section 3.
9. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can email hello@learnstack.academy to:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you or your child;
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Delete your family's data (subject to legal retention requirements);
- Withdraw consent for your child's participation;
- Opt out of marketing emails (every email also includes an unsubscribe link).
We respond within 30 days. EU/UK residents also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes — especially anything affecting children's data — we will email enrolled parents before the change takes effect and update the date at the top of this page.
